Paper , Tape & WOYWW 172

Can't believe it's Wednesday again.  WOYWW time! Time flies so fast.  I'm off the floor, but still no "normal" desk.
I'm on my little desk, which I actually made myself. OK... not entirely.  I measured and sawed the wood needed, my cousin put it together, my uncle added some triangle things to make it stop from wobbling and I painted it :). It was meant to be a table that I could use for my laptop in bed but I ended sawing the legs a little longer. Without further ado... here's what's on it this week.

See... nothing much on it.

My brother's friend arrived from Japan last Saturday  and I had asked her to buy some washi tapes for me. I was so excited since she said she bought 7 rolls. But I got a little disappointed when I got. It wasn't washi tape. It was more like regular "plastic" tape with print on it. I was really expecting them to be washi tape ( the mt brand) since the designs from Japan are way cuter than the ones being sold here.
:(. I was also concerned about the residue of the tape, but there seems to be none. Here's a blurry picture of the tapes... sorry.

Nevertheless, the designs were super cute. So what do I do with cute tapes? I stick it onto something! I decided to cover my laptop since It's kinda dirty and there are scratches. And how did it turn out?
PERFECT!. I chose the tape with text on it. It would have been really cute if the text was japanese and it would fit me perfectly since I love japanese stuff, but the text is in french and is still super cute.

I also bought Paper. Did I mention I LOVE PAPER? Well who doesn't? In my city there is no specialty store that sells scrapbook paper like in the US. Our bookstore has a scrapbook corner the choices are so limited and some does not really fit what I have in mind. So when I found a little shop that had these paper packs ( not stacks) I got excited. Although some of the sheets are the same in other packs, I still like it. I bought 1 pack of 12x12 and 2 packs of 8x8.

I think 6 pieces were even double sided and 4 pieces were glittered. Most of the sheets are thick.  Although there are specialty scrapbooking stores in Manila, shipping usually costs a lot since paper is heavy.  So I think I'm just gonna wait for the box my mom and brother sent me from the US. I'm so excited. They bought me a lot of scrapbooking stuff , stamps, punches, lots of paper packs and most of all my most "coveted" tool ... the ATG gun :).Now all I need is a "decent" scrap space.

I also need your opinion on something. I was thinking of getting an embossing machine. Which do you think is better? The Cuttlebug or the Bigshot? Thanks in advance.

Homemade Washi tapes

     I'm so hooked on washi tapes but can't seem to buy more since... well since I have no more budget for that.
     So imagine my extreme happiness when I found a tutorial from Craftpasion showing how to make an embossed homemade washi tape. Unfortunately, I do not own an embossing gun and was not so keen about using tissue/toilet paper.  Then I realized I have a lot of patterned tissue paper. The ones they use to wrap gifts and stuff.

So I tried to make my own washi tape. And the verdict?... I LOVE IT!!!

So here's how I did it...
What I used:

     Double sided tape
     Scissors
     Pattered Tissue paper

How I did it:

1. Cut a strip of patterned tissue paper ( depending on how long you want it). make sure it is a bit wider than the double sided tape.

2. Attach the double sided tape to the wrong side of the tissue paper.

3. Cut the excess tissue paper, so you only have the width and length of the  double sided tape.

4. Peel the back once you're ready to use them.

I used them to washify another candle.

The downside though is that you can't cut it by hand like the normal washi tapes and you can't "reuse/reposition" them. But hey, this is a good substitute if you can't buy one just yet.

There you have it. So go ahead and try it. It's cheap and easy

WOYWW 163 & Washi-fied Candles

    I know I've been MIA for the last 2 weeks or so... I have to do an errand for my mom...
    I happen to stumble upon a blog that "showcases" what's on a crafter's desk. She calls it What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.
   My desk has always been "messy". For the few times that it has been cleared/cleaned, it never stays that way. I clean my desk only to mess it up again. And today is no exception...

 

      I've been playing with my washi tapes ( sadly I only have 3 :( but still thinking of buying more) and wanted to do something with it...

     Dug out some of my mom's candles and "washi-fied" them...

Haul of Supplies

     Today I had a haul of supplies... no pun intended.

     Well, it's not really a haul -haul kind of thing. I just wanted to share the stuff I got today. 

Ok, let me give you a rundown of what I got...

1. FABRIC TAPE - I wanted to buy all of them but sadly I was on a tight budget. Each roll costs P25 (equivalent more or less to 50 cents)

2. Patterned Paper - There are only three designs. Seashells, Stars & Teddy Bears. there are 10 sheets in each pack, 2 each of 5 colors and it costs only P15 per pack which is equivalent to less than 50 cents. cheep huh?

3. Patterned Tape - don't know what it's actually called... I was hoping this was Washi tape... costs only P10

4. Craft Punchers -  Considering that craft punchers are supposed to be expensive, I got these really cheap. The blu one only costs P45 ($1) and the green one for P75 ($1.80). There aren't big ones though... those are the ones I really want.

    I also got a pack of board paper ( this is what I substitute for cardstock as there's none here). 

     So there you have it... till next time... can't wait to use these on my upcoming projects...
